Discussing Cloud and Digital Transformation in Sydney
Following on the heels of our SAP Jam work patterns and developer platform release, I’m heading back to Sydney for customer meetings and two very interesting industry events/ get-togethers lined up.
The broader area of discussion will be Cloud but as you might suspect the topic of digital transformation and future of work will get fair play. If you read the last 2-3 posts on this blog, you know where my head is these days.
The skies are definitely cloud-y in Australia and collaboration is extremely well represented. A recent IDC report by analyst Raj Mudaliar shows that a whopping 86% of the 100 executives interviewed are cloud adopters and there’s about an equal balance between Lob and IT interest. The public sector has also openly declared that it’s going to follow a cloud-first IT policy. Communications Minister Stephen Conroy said at the CeBIT conference earlier this year:
“Cloud computing has reached its tipping point. It is no longer a trend, but an absolute business requirement. By freeing business from infrastructure limitations and associated capital expenses, cloud services are fueling innovation and driving productivity.”
Some of the sharpest thinking and writing on the topic of social collaboration and the future of work has come from our industry colleagues in Australia: Futurist Ross Dawson, Social Business Strategist James Dellow and Knowledge Management Strategist John Tropea to name a few collaboration experts and others such as Chris Paine who have charted the way when it comes to how social concepts matter to talent management. They don’t all dwell in Sydney but I’ll take the chance to meet as many as I can.
The first event I’m speaking at is the IPAA NSW State Conference. The IPAA in their own words:
“The Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) is the professional association for people interested in strategic issues, policy, reform and innovation in public sector management.”
With such decisive focus on cloud by the government and its agencies and a carved out session on collaboration, I’m extremely thrilled to be able to discuss what cloud means to collaboration, the power of platforms, and finally, the emerging foray into digital transformation – topics that subsume what I do at work every day. There’s incredible value to be unlocked by infusing collaboration into the very fabric of how the government and its agencies work. I’m looking forward to learning as much as sharing.
The second is an informal get together at the offices of The Ripple Effect Group. The team has been kind enough to open up their office to others who want to swing by.
